How does the AI mode work?+
The AI engine uses pattern-based intelligence to generate likely password candidates. It analyzes common password creation habits: adding numbers after words, using years, capitalizing first letters, substituting letters with numbers (l33t speak), appending symbols, and generating keyboard patterns. It then tests each candidate against your PDF.
What kinds of passwords can it crack?+
Best results with: common words (password, admin, 1234), dates (01012023, jan2023), names with numbers (john123, mary@2022), keyboard patterns (qwerty, 123456), and simple variations. It cannot crack truly random passwords like "xK9#mP2@".
What if none of the attempts work?+
Use the Custom Hints mode and add words related to the PDF — the creator's name, company, project name, or year. The AI will generate hundreds of variations. If you know any part of the password, this greatly increases success rate.
Is this legal?+
Yes, for your own PDFs. Recovering passwords from documents you own or have authorization to access is legal. Using this tool on PDFs you do not own or have permission to access may be illegal depending on your jurisdiction.
